The following are what I would consider to be strong examples of Artist Research from my students, produced in 2019. Seven examples attached.

IB MYP Visual Arts Shoe Project (Part 1) In this project, students will engage with a number of activities, aimed at assessing strands of the MYP Visual Arts criteria. Assessment areas are supported with success criteria and examples where relevant. International Baccalaureate MYP 3 Grading.

Resource contains: PowerPoint covering two lesson introductory project based on who were are and examining basic art materials. This project has worked well for myself as an introductory project for students are the start of the school year. It allows different members of the class to learn about who they are sat with, their interests as well as expressing their own interests. It also introduces the ideas of self and peer assessment.

Resource contains: Full PowerPoint for a 5 week project investigating the ecosystem, things we need/want to survive and the production of an individual and group terrariums, ELL/SEN support sheet for Things we need, Leaf example resource for Lesson 1, Year 3 Display board sheet, Jar examples for terrariums. In this project students will examine the varying ecosystems, things they, and other creatures and people, need to survive and the things they want in their lives. This project works best when accompanied by a cross curriculum investigation into nature and ecosystems. The project examines artists and the creation of terrariums, culminating in a group project to create a fantasy piece. After completing this project with Year 3's recently I found they enjoyed the freedom and creativity of the group work but have adjusted that section to be at the end of the project once individual work has been complete. This unit investigates drawing, colouring and collage.

This PowerPoint contains five seperate pieces of Art work formed around building an understanding of the Landscape and different parts of the landscape, as well as various Art techniques including: drawing, colouring and collage. All pieces contain a WALT/LI with examples of student or exemplar work to assist with the project. Some pieces contain starter activities or assessment opportunities to be used with the class.

This is a perfect way to start off a new year, term or class. Initially starting by introducing basic expectations within the art room, this PowerPoint shows an example of a rules contract I have all students complete at the start of the year. Following this are examples of a mixed media baseline assessment activity with exemplars and assessment for learning opportunities.

In this PowerPoint students are introduced to beautiful examples of artist terrariums. These introductions are supported by questions and prompts. This lesson is intended to be used as a one off lesson, or cover lesson, but could easily be incorporated and adjusted into an integrated learning project examining the world around us and our environment.

In this PPt, students are introduced to landscapes and have to engage with identifying different features of landscape images. The lesson is designed around the intention of producing a Plein Air image from working around or outside the classroom.

In this lesson you can introduce your students to mark making and tone using ink and water. Based on an artist this lesson gives students the choice of selecting from an easy, medium or difficult image to work from, displays Learning intention, success criteria, starter activity, assessment opportunities and an additional plenary.

In this lesson, students will continue their experimentation with ink and stick, engaging with contemporary artist Jim Butler. This lesson will use collage to highlight areas of interest in landscape images.

In this lesson students will examine an alternative mark-making tool, ink and stick, and use it with a variety of pre-collected images to produce a landscape.

Resources contained: A 6 week PowerPoint for the entire project, A Unit of work detailing differentiation and suggestions for AfL activities, Worksheets required for the colour wheel lesson and the cardboard printing plate lesson. This Powerpoint will direct the teacher through a 6 week project based around healthy eating, still life study, painting, printing, adding tone and mixing colours. The PowerPoint is thorough and directs you through each lesson introducing each WALT and WILF, assessment opportunities and simplified instructions for students. Building upon each week this Primary Art project finishes with the design of a healthy eating campaign which can be easily used for the school-wide community. Having just completed this project with Year 3 students' I found they most enjoyed the production of cardboard printing plates and would happily recommend this project to others.

This pack contains a PowerPoint showing four different pieces of work to help students become settled in the first term, as well as introducing them to the idea of Starter activities, Assessment for learning and providing feedback to one another. The goal of this pack is to help students become settled and explore what makes them who they are and begin to settle into the class. Each project contains a WALT/LI and either student examples or ideas to help students with their work. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

A perfect way to start the year with a new class, project or teacher. This PowerPoint introduces the Seven Elements of Art and Design with clear examples of each element for all students to understand. Following this are examples of students work creating a display page with each of the elements. Finally, there is an assessment for learning opportunity to examine different elements of art within famous pieces of art work.

Students continue their examination of landscapes and build upon their previous work created in lesson 4 and 5, the collage skyline. In this lesson students examine Lizzy Hunter and create maps of their cities. In the ppt. you will find success criteria, a link to a teacher demonstration and an exemplar link to a student group demonstration as well as a starter task.

This work is set out for two extended art lessons. The PPt is separated into two lessons with starters, afl opportunities and plenaries for both, as well as an extension activity. Students will be creating their own collage city. There is a link to an example video included in the ppt. and listed success criteria.

In this pack there are several created challenge sheets to be used to introduce Maker spaces/Innovation Labs, or Innovation and creativity into the classroom. These challenges can be used as solo or group work and are best used to inspire additional resource and lesson planning around set topics. In Pack one are 4 regular challenges and 1 timed challenge. Each challenge card features a matching theme, introduces a scenario and presents rules which can be applied to any level or ability students, across any key stage. In this powerpoint, I provide a starting prompt in the form of questions, example images and information of the artist. Students are tasked with a activities supported by a rubric and questions share prompting for differentiated writing.

In this Powerpoint, I show you how to edit images in the style of Francesca Woodman. This is supported by a step to step guide, with challenge steps to support differentiated delivery. Supporting assessment questions and rubric also included with prompts to support all learners.
